Longitude Aircraft - Textron Aviation announced today that the Cessna Citation Longitude "super-midsize" jet has received an FAA type certificate. Ron Draper, president and CEO of Textron Aviation, declared with perhaps forgivable hyperbole that the "longitudinal revolution is just beginning." Longitude received its provisional TC in late 2018.
According to Cessna, the Longitude test fleet accumulated nearly 6,000 flight hours, explored nearly 11,000 "test points" and completed a 31,000-NM "world tour." Cessna says the Longitudinal has "passed the most rigorous full flight, structural and component qualification tests to date."

Cessna says it has a full fuel capacity of 1,600 pounds. The Latitude has the same cabin cross-section as the Latitude, but the fuselage length has been increased to accommodate a second row of seats.
"The Longitude is the best flying quote to date," said Ed Weininger, Chief Pilot of Textron Aviation Engineering Flight Tests. FADEC-equipped Honeywell HTF7700L turbofan engines feature fully integrated auto-throttles with envelope protection, providing responsiveness and superior power.
The $24 million Longitude took off in late 2016, received its provisional TC in late 2018, and was due to be certified earlier this year.
